Site of discovery: Lignite Mine, Bükkábrány, Hungary
Age: Miocene
Description: One of the tree trunks of the 6.8–7.5 million years old bald-cypress forest that was unearthed from the open cast lignite mine of Bükkábrány in July 2007. The assemblage is part of the oldest standing fossil forest in the world whose trees avoided petrification.
