In the heart of the village of Füzér lies the building of the Nagy-Milic Nature Park Visitor Center and Castle Guardianship. There is also a souvenir shop on site for visitors who can visit the Castle of Füzér without difficulty or at all. Thanks to the exhibition, they also have the opportunity to learn about the past of the village and the castle, as well as the natural and cultural values and traditions of the surrounding area.
With the help of interactive surfaces you can walk through the main sights of the settlement and learn about their history. Moreover, they can see the original fragments of dishes, stove tiles, utility tools that were unearthed during the excavations of the castle.
Permanent interactive exhibition “World of Preserved Values”
1. History of the Castle of Füzér and the Szalánci Castle
With the help of modern technology and short animated films made on the basis of excavations, you can get an authentic picture of the structure of the Castle of Füzér in each era, and you can view other interesting written finds that are used in everyday life. You can also learn about the history of Szalánci Castle.
You can get to know in detail all the families of the estate that have ever happened in the history of the castle, and even see Péter Perényi in the size of life.
In the same place you can see the original clay pot fragments, stove tiles and the remains of various utensils that have been unearthed in excavations.
2. Association of Upper Hungarian Castles
The Association was founded in 2003 and aims to represent and coordinate the interests of legal and natural persons operating the fortresses in Northern Hungary. At the exhibition site you can find information about current programs and the history of the castles in an interactive way, all with pictures.
Looking out of the inverted drop-shaped window, you can see the Castle of Füzér from a unique perspective.
3. Built, natural and cultural values of the village of Füzér
In the display cases you can see family memorabilia offered by the Schudich family, including porcelain plates from Ravenclaw house and stoneware from Telkibánya. Nándor Schudich was a forest engineer and forest janitor of Füzér origin. The Count was in the service of the Károlyi family, and his forestry work is significant, to which the forest history memorial on the courtyard also pays tribute.
You can get to know the wildlife of the Füzéri Várhegy, which is one of the natural wonders of Hungary and our built heritage.
Smart Museum development:
On the ground floor of the Visitor Center, you can see an interactive model presentation of Füzér Castle. The theoretical reconstruction model shows the 3 eras of the castle.Moving further in the room on the wall monitor, you can see 3 short timelapse videos about the flowering of the protected spring plants of Castle Hill as a natural miracle and the presentation of the partner museums in the Smart Museum project. Before going upstairs, we can view the presentation of the Smart Museum partners on a Reception Wall: Zemplén Museum — Nagymihály, Andrassy Castle — Tóketerebes, Márkusfalv Castle — Szepes, Ottó Herman Museum — Miskolc.
Behind the stairs upstairs there is a playground for children to have fun with a special soft Füzér Castle toy mat (puzzle) and a chalk wall.
People of all ages can put their knowledge to the test with online quiz tasks covering exciting and varied topics.
In the stove-tile tutorial we can get to know and take in hand the hand-palpable imprints of the stove tiles found in the Füzér Castle.
With the help of an interactive board to the right of the stairs, we can gain new knowledge in various topics (Life in the castle; Castle history; Castle estate; History of the Holy Crown) through an educational software, and we can also watch thematic short films about Füzér Castle shot in 4 seasons and the research of the families who owned the castle: the "Count Nagykárolyi Károlyi family in Zemplén" documentary film.
Panoramic canvas illustrates the condition of the Castle of Füzér before renovation (2011) and after renovation (2022).
On the semicircular wall surface, a huge montage canvas image depicts the castle of Füzér from the last century to the present day.
The FEMO presentation series illustrates the members of the Association of Upper Hungarian Castles and their distance from the Castle of Füzér with 26 canvas images on the stands opposite the Panorama image. The pull-out Mini roll-ups give you detailed information about these castle-castles.
With the help of the Reg-Elő Füzér mobile application we can get interesting information about the sights of the settlement. Within the application we have the opportunity to take a long tour of the Reg-Live Füzér district (18 places) and a short tour of the Reg-Live Füzér Route (10 places). Arriving at the points, we get interesting information, pictures of the given place. The application is available in 5 languages (Hungarian, English, Slovak, Ukrainian, Romanian).
